The Hôtel de Rohan was designed as the counterpart to the Hôtel de Soubise and it houses remarkable wood panelling and rococo cabinets. The Cabinet des Singes is the masterpiece of the painter Christophe Huet, who specialised in this genre. The gilt medallions on the Cabinet des Fables, which draw their inspiration from Aesop and La Fontaine, were originally to be found in the small apartments at the Hôtel de Soubise, which no longer exist. Visitors will be able to admire these cabinets as well as the stable courtyard of the Hôtel de Rohan, decorated with the famous bas-relief of the Horses of the Sun by Robert Le Lorrain. This is the courtyard that the Archives Nationales has used for over 80 years now to conserve original deeds produced by Paris notaries.
